Two couples are sitting at nearby tables in a fashionable restaurant. One of them: Elena (Maribel Verdú) and Chus (Jorge Sanz) is having dinner with friends, which doesn't however prevent them from arguing with each other.

Very near them, the other couple: Sara (María Barranco) and Oscar (Darío Grandinetti), is trying to prevent their marriage from going under. The two couples haven't met yet but they both manage to find a temporary solution to their respective problems. A few years later, they run into each other again at an emergency room of a hospital. Elena and Chus now have a son but have split up. Sara and Oscar have experienced a serious misfortune and for some time have been unable to communicate with one another.

From that night on, their lives will change forever. TIEMPO DE TORMENTA (STORMY WEATHER) is a modern-day drama about love and its shortcomings, about the most severe of addictions: intimate relationships.
