It is a Mediterranean film that
thrives on the sensuality and a culture in which death and love
coexist like two sides of a coin, like the opposite sides of life.
It is juvenile, musical and erotic. Although it might appear
nostalgic, it actually isn't. The film is melancholic, since it
portrays a long bygone era, but doesn't become bogged down in pain
and grief. If anything, it conveys a sense of joyfulness. Mind you,
those were sinister times that are only missed when they are over
and youth has disappeared with them.
