It is a comedy with quite a few
sarcastic and ironic elements, although I wouldn't have any doubts
in calling it almost grotesque. It is a film about the change in
identity, like many others I have made, about metamorphosis, the
concept of masquerade which is perfectly exposed by the
carnival-like atmosphere of the film) [...]
The film has another complementary aspect to it, apart from the
linguistic one; It is a schizophrenic tour and it also reveals an
important thing: the personal problem of the leading character
(Joan Marés) whose role is played by Imanol Arias. Bilingualism
isn't just a characteristic feature of Catalonia [...]
I have worked a lot with Imanol Arias to come up with an
artificial tone. In fact, when the character: Faneca talks the way
he does, it is an imitation of the way Paco Rabal used to talk.
Imanol speaks in Murciano, which isn't a dialect but a
characteristic of the voice. However, the harsh tone including the
gestures that go with it have been borrowed from Paco Rabal.
