The tenants in an apartment
building in this film are a parable of life. To write the script, I
researched TV news bulletins, which often report incidents of
elderly people being discovered dead in their apartments, with
money hidden under the floor tiles. Furthermore, I'd like to add
that once I lived in an apartment myself in a building where my
neighbors took me for some sort of hellish creature, so to speak
[...]
The film is a distressing comedy
with a happy ending, because I like movies that make the viewers
suffer but end well. In any case, I think I have made a movie in
which no one, not even the female lead is a good person [...]
The thesis of my film is that the
most powerful drug today is money. My vision about today's society
is that we are all guilty because we are all ambitious, greedy and
envious. But the worst part is that no one wants to accept being
the bad guy because everyone, as in my film, justifies their
adoration of money with all manner of justifications.
